With effect from 1 April 2016, all insurers are required by BNM to adopt a revised standardized critical illness (CI) definitions for new and existing on the shelf CI products.
What has changed?
The revised CI definitions provide a clearer description of each covered event.
The severity benefits of the covered events are consistent before and after the revision of the CI.
Is this good or bad for me?
Overall this is good as benefits have not gotten worse in any way, it is easier to read & better standardization across.
Does this affect my existing policy?
Yes upon your policy renewal. The new definitions will apply to new and policies renewed on or after 1st April 2016.
