Last Friday, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced a National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA). This plan aims to help cultivate the Malaysian economy as Covid-19 cases decrease in Malaysia and to encourage the rakyat to spend their money locally.

During the announcement, one of the incentives given to Malaysian is RM50 credited to selected e-wallet accounts. PM Muhyiddin added that this initiative worth RM750 million would benefit about 15 million Malaysians, starting next month.

Eligibility Guidelines for RM50 e-Wallet Incentive

  1. You need to be registered on the MySejahtera app, which is a contract tracing app developed by the government.
  2. You must be of age 18 and above (as of December 31 2020).
  3. Your annual income must be less than RM100,000 based on income declared to LHDN.
  4. This credit will only be applicable for offline retail transactions spending (see below).
  5. Another RM50 (or more) in discounts, vouchers and cashback will be given.
  6. You must be using an approved and verified e-wallet (see below).

What are the excluded categories for the RM50 PENJANA e-credit?

Update: Restrictions of online purchases, e-hailing, etc appear to have been removed. You can now use ePENJANA for any online and offline transactions that accept the e-wallet.

Which e-Wallet should I use for the RM50 PENJANA e-credit?

It depends on the e-wallet that you use frequently for offline transactions. Do note the exclusion categories above!

Now that Malaysia is entering the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) phase, some restrictions are lifted. A: Citizenship, age and income data is verified through JPN and LHDN without sharing of information to the e-wallets. MySejahtera app is developed under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) and is owned by the government of Malaysia and administered by the Ministry of Health. Data privacy is subject to PDPA Act 2010.
